Failing Bearings: If the bearings inside the alternator are worn out, the alternator may not spin properly, reducing its ability to generate electricity.

Brush wear: Poor contact or wear between the brush and the commutator can lead to unstable or reduced current output, affecting the charging performance.


2️⃣  Loose or Damaged Drive Belt

Belt Slippage: The alternator is driven by a belt connected to the engine. If this belt is loose, worn, or broken, the alternator won’t spin at the correct speed, leading to poor charging performance.

Faulty Tensioner: If the belt tensioner is failing, it may not keep the belt tight enough, causing it to slip.


3️⃣  Voltage Regulator Issues

Regulator Failure: The voltage regulator controls the alternator's output to ensure the battery receives the correct voltage. If the regulator fails, the alternator might not produce enough voltage, or it could produce too much, which can also harm the battery.
